KeexyBox - miscellaneous settings
To modify miscellaneous settings of KeexyBox:
- Use your browser and connect to the KeexyBox Management Web interface.
- On left menu, go to
System settings → Miscellaneous
. - You will be redirected to the
Miscellaneous settings
page. - Complete the form as explained below.
- When you are done, click on
Save
to save settings otherwise click onCancel
.
Domains routing and DNS options
Field | Description |
---|---|
Clear the domain routing cache | For domain routing, KeexyBox keeps DNS resolutions for domains in a cache. You can reset this cache by clicking on the Clear button. |
Domain routing cache expiration (days) | Time after which the cache expires. |
Use defined DNS as redirectors | By checking this box, the DNS you have defined in the Network settings will be use to forward DNS queries of your devices. You can get more privacy by unchecking this box, then DNS queries will be directly redirected to the root DNS servers on the Internet. |
User and device options
Since version 20.10.1, these options have been moved to Captive Portal settings.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Default user connection time | It is the connection duration proposed by default to users that use captive portal to connect to the Internet. |
Default language for users and devices | This is the default language if KeexyBox cannot determine the user's preferred language. |
Log options
Depending on the regulations of your country and your privacy policy, you will need to adjust the log retention settings.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Maximum retention of logs in database (days) | The statistics and charts displayed in KeexyBox are generated using the logs stored in the database. If you increase this value, more you can go back in time to consult the statistics. Conversely, if you decrease this value, you will gain in performance to display statistics and charts. |
Maximum retention of logs on the hard drive (days) | Logs are text files stored in the folder /opt/keexybox/logs . They contain information or errors on the use of KeexyBox and other softwares. Regarding the DNS log files, they are automatically imported into the database in order to make the statistics displayed in KeexyBox. Note: You can deactivate the logging of DNS queries in profile settings by unchecking the box Statistics . |
